Project Description Vertex Geospatial completed the vectorization of over 10,000 building footprints within the inner-district of the City of Rome. Building polygons were created by digitizing features using high resolution digital ortho-photography and graphic editing tools within ESRI’s desktop ArcGIS software. A personal geodatabase was created to track weekly progress by city block(s) and store the building footprint dataset. The building footprint data is being used in conjunction with multiple planning efforts within the Department of Economic and Community Development. The public works department is using the data to cross reference city water connections to individual building structures. The Codes Enforcement Office is looking into creating a link to the Assessors database for tracking ownership, inventory, and building permit data.
